town picnic

After church we all wandered to the back of the school where the annual town picnic was being held. Dan walked Gucci around and got lots of attention from everyone. I told him that the puppy would be a chic magnet. We laughed.

First order of business were horse rides...... followed by Fire engine rides. Both were a huge hit with the kids. I was tired of waiting in lines, and I was impressed that the kids did minimal complaining about the lines.

By the time we were done, and mosied on over to the food table, there were some hot dogs left and no juice..... That went over REAL big. Right after introducing Noah and Jesse to the school superintendent ( they did great and looked very typical), Jesse found out there was no juice left and had a meltdown.... a quick one but nonetheless right in front of school administriation cracked me up.
We wrapped things up at the moonbounce and headed home!

Another little girl has arrived

and her name is Gucci...Guc for short. She is 8 weeks old.And the kids are just lovin her up!~ I was reserved at first, but I gotta say I am impressed! We got her October 7th from a puppy rescue, and it is October 10th and she is going to the door..no accidents in the house today!~
She is pretty calm, and then has her bouts of puppyplay......I usally know that starts by either Grace or Jesse exclaiming, "No Bite No Bite" I try to tell them that she played with her brothers and sisters that way, but Grace and Jesse dont seem to care lol . I may need to resort to arming them both with a squirt bottle of water. At this point the two older ones are constantly playing with her or walking her, etc.....So I pretty much just have to keep things running smoothly.
SHe really is so good, she wants to be next to us all the time, and puts herself to bed around 11. She just walks in her crate and then when I go to bed, I shut it. The first night was rough, but last night she slept till 7....She loves to hang out in the yard and watch the kids play(The picture)
Oh and she is a lab/Red Heeler mix.....She will be about 50 pounds.

Amino Acids/Enzymes...Who is this child?

Went to the playground.....
Jess and Grace were having a great time, and then Jesse evidently was following a little boy around trying to get this boy to play with him. This little boy came up to me me and asked me to tell Jesse to stop trying to play with him. I was baffled, as this time last month, Jes would be stimming around the playground and only occasionally ( on a good day) want to interact with boys he has never met. The boys mother apologized to me, not realizing that I was in awe of my son trying to get a boy to play with him. Jesse was watching the entire situation from afar and so the boy and his mom left and Jesse went on......and as I soon will find out, to find another playmate, or at the very least, not freak out that someone else was on the tire swing when he wanted to go on it. So as I walked around checking on Grace and her little girlfriend, there Jesse was on the tire swing with a girl his age. They were both laughing and the mother of the girl was pushing them and she glanced over and saw me watching in disbelief and said " He wanted to swing with my daughter , is it ok that I push them both?" I managed to utter " Sure he loves to swing" Now I just sat there thinking to myself, last month he would of screamed if someone else was on the tire swing, come get me and cry and complain that he wanted to go on. Whoo hoo for the Jes Man!

Storybook land

Last week I took Noah, Jes and Gracie to Storybook land. We have season passes and they all love rides. Dan of course is too cool, and too old for storybook land. Jesse and Grace usually act out the stories there when we get home, and they love the three little bears. Jesses *issue* is he always wants to go on the rollar coaster first, as soon as we get there. So we are working on some perspective with RDI.

There are hayrides this month so that was tons of fun.....and just an all around nice day was had by all!

Enzymes

Jesse has been doing great this past week with Enzymes. He gets stimmy, but it has to do with his bowel movements...... I have noticed now that I am paying more careful attention, that fruit juice can make Jesse alittle stimmy. Was wondering if it is the fruit that his body is not breaking down in the juice? Or the sugar? So that is my newest question ...stay tuned for the answer...I have enzymes for fruit around here somewhere that I will be trying! Meanwhile, He and Grace have been playing so great together...They are buddies, most of the time!

What is my kid allergic too? * A major Poop Story*

Not sure who watched Oprah with Jenny Mccarty and Holly Robinson Peete, but she talked about the GFCF diet for children with Autism........ I never thought that Noah or Jesse had any allergy issues. Noah does not, but Jesse, well.......a few of us moms started comparing and ...
This week I discovered that Jesse has a condition called encopresis. It totally threw me off cause he would go in the potty, just not alot! Of course I had to call my doctor and let him know lol I just love that! Anyway, It is a pretty gross condition so just trust me, I wont go into details lol. Lets just say he needed to be cleaned out with heavy duty methods lol....

He got off the toilet, we made a big deal out of it, etc...... He walked into the living room, I gave him some juice and he walked over to the window ( his favorite stim window) and sat there for 15 minutes and drank his juice and looked out the window....not one stim!!!! I noticed it within 5 minutes, sat down on the chair and just watched in utter disbelief. Jesse has been crazy stim dude for a while! So this was blowing my mind! I texted Dave and told him....Dave immediately called me. I was planning on taking them to the playground so I was getting everything together..... still no stimming. He was going up to grace trying to get her to play with him, she was watching sponzebob. He was literally walking around the living room looking at the pictures on the walls like he never noticed them before, and he looked at me and commented on the one with him in it........Went to the playground....... NO stimming at the playground, I may have saw one small stim for a second. I fully expected to just see it go down alittle, but it was so drastic! Came home, he asked for cheese curls........I was like ok, lets see what happens......he had 5, and quess what, he started to stimm alittle....just alittle but I was like whoa, this is blowing my mind. I had him drink his juice laced with enzymes lol the stimming stopped. He ate Penne with Sauce and broccili for dinner....He actually ate most of it! We went to church. Picked him up from church and they were all eating pretzels, but he was not stimming. His teacher said he stimmed a few times, but totally said he did not stim like usual...and I told him that I was trying something new so I was glad to hear it.

Came home, he wanted some fruit snacks. He was slightly stimmy, not a crazy stim but slightly..... he finished drinking his enzyme juice and Dave and I literally sat in the dining room as we watching him and Grace play in the living room....... shaking our heads in disbelief. I did his music program with him, and afterwards he was talking to Dave and walking around looking at the pictures on the walls again......

So well...I keep thinking it is a dream that this major puzzle piece is answered! So all this stuff I was doing could not work because his was impacted with toxins! And well, I do think junk food plays a role in the stimming now...a kid who was not stimming and has a few cheese curls and stimms and then drinks enzymes and stops stimming...oh my gosh! It was incredible to watch!

So I pulled out my book on Enzymes that I never finished reading cause I did not think that they did anything ( How could they with all that stuff still in Jesses bowels! Gotta read it again!)

I am totally into learning about Bio med now.......... I think the biggest point is, Jesse STILL has Autism, but the Biomedical stuff helps get rid of that imbalance in his system so he looks more typical ( Much less stimming, etc) And Noah has none of these allergy issues so it is all new to me! This could be why some people think Bio med * recovers* kids withAutism....but core deficits are not effected by improving the food allergy.......just the appearance of behaviors are lessened....... I think, for Jesse anyway, It was becoming clearer to me thru the months that his stimming was something deeper....... He is progressing with RDI at an awesome pace, but the stimming just always got in the way! All the Biomed stuff I tried the past 18 months could not work cause Jesse had this condition and so it was hard to see drastic improvement because he was literally, backed up lol :)

So here I am, finding myself including Jesse in the *children allergic to Wheat and Gluten* category!

Drove to Storybook land today, and the whole way there, Jesse was looking out the window, singing to the cd, etc......... compared to stimming off his fingers for an hour.......

More to follow, as now Jesse becomes my little experiment :)

San Diego /LA/ Beverly Hills...2007 RDI conference

Hollywood was fun to check out! My

Girlfriend Pam did a great job driving

thru LA while I just soaked up the

sites! I pretended to be driving in Beverly

Hills, but no can do a stick shift. Way cool to be cruizing

on Sunset Blvd in a convertable. I never saw so many

beemers in my life!

Oh yeah, and then there was the actual RDI conference...... ya know the whole reason that I went to California. Right before the conference started I got to meet some ladies who I have talked to for awhile on a yahoo group....so I was meeting them for the first time but not really! We knew each other already, and just had to actually meet! I would post all their pixs but then not sure if they would like that! lol The highlight of California was hanging out with these great Moms, who happen to share with me the day in and day out struggles of raising a child with Autism! The conference was very informative and I brought home alot to implement in my homeschooling, and just being refreshed for the task that God has placed before me by entrusting me with *his* children.
