Learning about Enzymes

http://www.enzymestuff.com

I first learned about Enzymes 2 years ago from Jesses Neurodevelopmentist. We had been taking him there to try and reduce his self stimulatory behavior thru brain activities. We did this for about a year with minimal success. That is when she suggested that his *stimming* may be a result of something Bio medically going on. I poo pooed the entire Bio Med route, but figured I would give it a try. I noticed nothing after two weeks so I pretty much just stopped. Fast Forward, still *searching* for Jesse's *reason* for stimming ( I no longer believed it would go away with therapy, and that perhaps there was something biomedically going on after all) we tried a few things, then one day I had a conversation with a friend, one thing led to another and I concluded that Jesse was in no way fully relieving his bowels. I immediately took drastic measures and within 10 minutes he was cleaned out. His stimming totally stopped and he was walking around the living room as if he never even saw the place. Some time later he ate a cheesecurl and he started ever so slightly stimming. I decided to pull out the enzymes from the year before and his stimming stopped ( More on this story in my earlier blog) Jesse has been on Enzymes ever since, and his stimming has reduced by 90 percent. The other 10 percent will correct itself within the developmental track of RDI therapy http://www.rdiconnect.com

Two weekends ago I went to a workshop with Karen De Felice ( Her website is above) I have alot more to learn about Enzymes but I know for Jesse, they have started the *gut* healing for him.

Currently I am using Houston Peptydes and Zyne Prime together, but intend on trying the following Enzymes, as I believe they may be stronger.

For our family, Enzymes are a great alternative to special diets. However you can use Enzymes alongside any special diet. What the Enzymes do is break down foods requiring DPP IV Activity. The GFCF diet is based on eliminating any foods requiring this DPP IV Activity. The SCD diet is related to the loss of the disaccharidases caused by gut injury. Many times people move on to SCD when GFCF becomes less effective.

Enzymes work on healing the gut. They break down food particles so that no large pieces irritate the gut lining or activate the immune system. Enzymes also act as a trash collector removing dead tissue, debris, chemicals, and toxins from the body. This cleaning out allows the gut to heal faster. It is my impression from the book, although Im certainly no expert, that enzymes is what heals the gut, and just removing offending foods does not heal. At the workshop I attended, the author commented that healing takes up to 18 months. If you are battling your childs gut issues for more then 2 years and have just tried to fight the battle with a restrictive diet, it is time to add enzymes. In just the few months Jesse has been on Enzymes, I have noticed he is more able to tolerate foods with less enzymes.

For a comprehensive explanation of how Enzymes work, I suggest you get your hands on the book Enzymes- Go with your gut. Or ask me questions and I can look in the book to address them! The book does have a complete protocol on how to start, what to expect, etc.

Gucci watching Dan head out to school

I think if Gucci had her way, Dan would also be homeschooled!

Gucci is doing great.....will be buying a clicker to start *official* training this weekend!

All the kids love her and still help. Noah is a pro at walking Her!

Bowling

This is Jes and Grace at Homeschool Bowling. Noah is off doing his thing with his team, while Jesse and Grace are enjoying a snack. Of course Jesse has been having some teeth issues with his big boy teeth coming in!

Jesse was alittle impatient at first, not knowing what to expect, but once he felt competent with bowling, he was a pro with the bumpers lol.

2 for one

what a great weekend at the Jersey Shore! Friday thru Sunday afternoon myself and 9 girlfriends headed for a *retreat* from the world of kids and husbands, to our big slumber party. On the Agenda was lots of fellowshipping, reading and talking about our one year Bible, and live worship music. Lucky for us, we have in the bunch people who can actually play instruments and sing!

We pretty much arrived while it was stormy, and the ocean was so cool to watch! We talked, ate, talked, laughed, etc all night. Saturday was pretty much the same, and as the sun broke thru, we took a walk on the beach. It was a great time, a time to just spend time with the Lord and each other!

Since we had the house till Monday morning, and everyone had to leave Sunday Afternoon ( Mostly to get the kids back to school etc) I decided that I would stay overnight and told Dave to bring the kiddies down. So the second half ( Sunday afternoon till Monday at noon) consisted of my family in the house the sleeps 10........The kids had a ball running around

from room to room figuring out where they wanted to sleep. Dave went home Sunday, along with Dan. Dan volunteered to go home and do Doggie duty. I told him he could stay home from school....so he was like sure!!!

I slept on the couch that night, with the fireplace on and the sliding door open to listen to the ocean....and the second picture is that morning as the sun rose. It was a great time to pray, while the kids were still asleep.

So now Im all about getting friends together to have *get aways* at this house! Im thinking of some families or a specific Yahoo group that could work! lol
